Zoo Trip

On Tuesday room 12,13,14 and room 15 went to the zoo. At the zoo we had a quiz. One of those ways were that they got a cage and put the food in a cup and they had to squeeze there hand in the cage. My favourite part was the giraffes because when the zookeepers were feeding one of them were talking to the zookeepers. My favourite part was the red pandas because one of the red panda came right up to the glass and it was sooooooooo cute.

 

 

wool cat eyes

Room 14 made wool cats eyes and we made them for christmas we made them by wool, ice block sticks, a hot glue gun and buttons. To make the wool cats eyes we wrapped the wool around the ice block sticks and then tied the rest of the wool to finish the wool cat eyes of then we hot glued the buttons onto the wool cats eyes.

Vincent Van Gogh art

Last week room 14 made sun flower art work. Vincent Van Gogh was a famous artist. He was born on 30 of march 1853 and died on the 29 of July 1890.Vincent Van Gogh stared painting when he was 27.He looked up to Millent, Theo Van Gogh and Gaughan. My art work is a picture of two(2) sunflowers.

Inspiration-Linear perspective

A horizon line is a line that goes across the page.A vanishing point is a dot that everything leads to. Objects look smaller when  they get closer  to the vanishing point(or points).One point perspective is useful for drawing because  it is being seen by one person's view.

fractions

This term we have been learning fractions,
I have been learning about what fractions are bigger.I know that 1/2 is bigger than 1/8 and that 2/3 is bigger than 1/5.

Class Speeches

Last Wednesday we had speeches. This me giving my speech to the class, my speech was about Ashley Fiolek. I chose her because she is deaf but she never gives up and now she is the best motor cross rider in the world. She shows the value of excellence because she is deaf but she never gives up.

Cross Country

On Friday we had cross country. The cross country was at mongue park. I was running with the 9 year old girls. I had to run 1km, I found going up the steep hills really hard.I am most proud of running 1 km. I enjoyed coming 9th.

 On Monday Doug Wilson came to room 14, Doug Wilson is a man  that writes books. He came to room 14 because he was passing through. He was going to Auckland. A nickname he could use for me is Kk.

There is another galaxy coming to our galaxy in 5 billion years but we won't see anything.
Jupiter is the biggest planet.
Saturn has gapes in the rings which have moons between them.
The planets go like this Mercury,Venus.Earth,Mars,Jupiter,Saturn,Uranus and Neptune.
There are 8 planets.

Geomity

This term in maths we are learning about geomity. I know that a sphere, a cone, a cuboid, a triangular prism, a pyramid, a cube and a cylinder are 3D shapes and that congruent means same size and shape.
Did you that Quadrilateral means 4 sides.

I saw a roar of bullets fly past me Like a swarm of nasty bees, I heard rats nibbling my war buddy, I felt the ground shake as a big hard canon ball crashed on the ground, I tasted the disgusting unbreathable smoke go throw my lungs, I smelt rusty red blood from the dead soldiers around me, I wondered if I would survive.

All about me

Hi my name is Makayla and I am in room 14 and I am in  year 5. I have enjoyed swimming with kelly sports. My goal is to get better at spelling words correctly in my writing.
